Dennis Dean Schultz, 66, died Feb. 11, 2009, surrounded by family in Kalispell, Mont.

He was born Nov. 13, 1942 in Belleville, Ill., to George Schultz and Frieda (Stafford) Lowery.

Dennis joined the U.S. Navy in 1959, serving to 1979. He served in the Vietnam War and also served on the USS Coontz and the USS Enterprise and received awards including the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon.

After leaving the Navy, he lived in Oak Harbor for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bretta, and their son, Nathaniel, both in Oak Harbor; his son DeGeo, in Spokane; his son DeWayne, in New Jersey; four grandchildren; his mother, Frieda, in Kalispell; and two sisters, Darlene in Kalispell and Bonnie in Missouri.

A social memorial service was held Feb. 26 at the K.I.S.S. AA Group, 639 Industrial Ave.
