Dellann DeVries Blackstock July 13, 1938 – August 28, 2023

Dellann DeVries Blackstock passed away peacefully on August 28 in Lincoln, CA. She was born July 13, 1938 in San Francisco and was raised in the loving home of her parents, Josephine (Jo) and Francis (Fruzer) DeVries. When she was young, her parents settled in an iconic home on Main Street in Milpitas, CA where she had room to roam with her much loved dogs and horses. It was there that the family built a successful pear orchard and fruit stand business. Dellann graduated from James Lick High School, and when the schedule allowed, she also helped run the family’s snack shop business on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. Dellannattended San Jose City College where she enjoyed being part of the college’s choral groups and was also honored to be voted into their Homecoming Court. It was in those years that she met and married Milton Carroll Blackstock. Together, they started their family in San Jose, CA and later in the Santa Cruz mountains. They raised three children, Chris Blackstock, Corinn Crowley and Dana Gabbert who later gifted her with six grandchildren. Dellann’s career included working in Loss Prevention, Community Development FundRaising and Executive Administration, but perhaps her most important work was when she moved to Whidbey Island, WA to care for her mother in her later years. While caring for our beloved “JoJ”, Dellann became part of the island community, contributing her experience and passions through community service with Soroptomists, The Boys and Girls Club, the Oak Harbor Garden Club and the Oak Harbor Yacht Club. Those who knew her knew that her true life’s passions were about creating beautiful experiences for her loved ones to enjoy. From her extraordinary Christmas trees and table settings, to her yard art and fun jewelry, Dellann’s love of cooking, entertaining, decorating and gardening will long be remembered by the many people she touched.
