Catherine M. Little, beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and golf enthusiast, finished her final round on Feb. 27, 2008, and is headed to heaven’s course.
She was born Aug. 23, 1922, to Harold and Ola Day McDonald of Rochester, Penn. She came into this world with her twin sister, Martha.
Catherine graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Penn., and completed her training at the School of Anesthesia. She went on to pursue a career in that field and practiced at Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, W.V., for 20-plus years.
Catherine loved being a career woman and she did it well. She was lauded for her proficiency in the administration of anesthesia and she was very proud of her accomplishments in the medical world.
An avid golfer, she achieved her prize trophy for two holes-in-one during one tournament and then went on to become the West Virginia Women’s Golf Association Senior State Champion.
She retired and moved to Oak Harbor in 1983 to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, all five siblings, and former son-in-law, Cmdr. Seadog Fodor, of whom she was extremely proud.
She is survived by her only daughter, Dorothy Jean Fodor; her grandson, Bradd C. Fodor; her granddaughter, Kelly Fodor Reis; grandson-in-law, Clayton Carlisle Reis; and her precious little great granddaughters, Carli Bella Reis and Chloe Addison Reis, who fondly refer to her as their “Grandma-the-Great!” The Reis family resides in Riverbank, Calif. She is also survived by family friend and loving caregiver, Robert B Copeland.
Catherine was an intelligent, unique and independent woman who knew what she wanted in life and made certain that it happened. She excelled at whatever she chose to do. Over the last 12 years, her heart slowly deteriorated and she became semi-invalid, but she never lost her beautiful smile and her indomitable spirit for life. At her request, there will be no funeral services. A memorial fund in lieu of flowers is set up through her granddaughter, Kelly Reis, at 700 NW Crosby Ave. #7 Oak Harbor WA 98277.
I wish it was not yet
Time for you to go . . .
Rest well, sweet Mom
I’ll miss you so!
