Alicia Turner Turner

Alicia Turner died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Whidbey General Hospital. She was born August 3, 1945, in Everett and was adopted at a young age to Ruby and Lambert VanderStoep of Oak Harbor.

Alicia was a beautiful woman and a wonderful person who loved her family dearly. Alicia had a great sense of humor and her laughter was contagious. She enjoyed working at the First Reformed Church with the children’s programs. Alicia taught children for most of her adult life and enjoyed being around them.

Alicia lived in Oak Harbor for most of her life. She was a joy to have in the community and everyone loved her. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Lambert and Ruby VanderStoep. She was survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Turner; her two children, Bryce Turner and Larisa Batchelor, with husband Chris; her sister Lynnette Wright and husband Michael; and her three grandchildren, Stefany, Dakota and Justin Mills.

Viewing of Alicia Turner will be held on Nov. 16, 2010, at Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor between 1 and 5 p.m. Private family burial will take place on Nov. 18, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Fircrest Cemetery, Oak Harbor, followed by a celebration of life services for all to attend at First Reformed Church, Oak Harbor, at 2 p.m. followed with a reception.
