Waterfront addition

Oak Harbor’s waterfront gained a new, gigantic addition with the arrival of a 165-foot-tall tower crane at Windjammer Park.

Oak Harbor’s waterfront gained a new, gigantic addition with the arrival of a 165-foot-tall tower crane at Windjammer Park.

The crane will be used to build the estimated $115-million sewage treatment plant. Tuesday workers used a smaller crane to offload the pieces and put them in place. After the crane is tested for safety, it will begin operations, probably this week, said city engineer Joe Stowell.

Hoffman Construction Co. is handling construction management for the project,   which is expected to be finished in 2018.
