Open letter to the President of the United States:

When you “signed on” for this “job” as president of this great land, I doubt you ever dreamed of the horrific decisions you would face. As I watched your latest news conference, my heart ached for you with the burden you obviously feel.

Mr. President, in our house, you and your family are, indeed, presented to God on a daily basis for strength and guidance and comfort.

No, I don’t want us to go to war. I’m having a very, very hard time with reconciling all that is occurring. But I also realize that if we don’t resolve this conflict now, it will lead to a greater problem in the future, both with Iraq’s aggression, but also with other evil men coming to believe they can run roughshod over the rest of the world because we will not oppose them in a manner that is meaningful.

I believe that God put you in this position because he knew you would be diligent in your purpose of seeking His will and letting your Christian faith guide you in your actions. I can not think of anyone else who could have been president who would have been so persistent in displaying the Christian faith.

Please know that when we shed tears for the pain that will be coming to those in battle, we also shed tears for your pain. Each person harmed will have a family to grieve for them individually. But I know you will grieve for each person, and that’s makes your sorrow greater and deeper. 

 May God’s word continue to be your “guidepost,” and may God bless you and comfort you in these hours of bitterness and grief.
