Volunteers needed to restore Ferry house and water tower

For the fourth summer, a group of preservation-minded volunteers will spruce up historic buildings on Central Whidbey Island. Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve is holding its Preservation Field School July 18 through Aug. 11.

For the fourth summer, a group of preservation-minded volunteers will spruce up historic buildings on Central Whidbey Island.

Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve is holding its Preservation Field School July 18 through Aug. 11.

This year volunteers will improve the Kineth water tower located near the Navy’s Outlying Field and the Ferry House located on Ebey’s Prairie near Coupeville.

Twelve spots, six in the morning and six in the afternoon, are available for volunteers. Work takes place Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A pre-project workshop is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 3 p.m. at the Kineth Watertower on Salmagundi Farm near Outlying Field.
