Swimming outside appealed to the North Whidbey Aquatic Club as is won the 15-team Twilight Inivitational at Wenatchee July 8 to 10.
The Aquajets ran up 1,545 points, easily outdistancing second-place Golds Aquatic Club of Woodinville (1,173) and the host Velocity Swimming of Wenatchee (1,060).
NWAC had seven of the 10 individual high-point winners: Lucas Tack (boys 8-and-under), Olivia Tungate (girls 9-10), Ethan Tack (boys 9-10), Marissa Morris (girls 11-12), Emily Huffer (girls 13-14), Laura Rosen (girls15-and-older) and John Hu (boys 15-and-older).
Ethan Tack won all 11 of his individual events and established six team records including the 50 free (31.74), 100 free (1:10.09), 400 free (5:25.18), 50 back (38.71), 100 back 1:20.84) and 50 breast (42). Younger brother Lucas also set team records in the 50 fly (42.65) and 100 fly (1:38.82), and Tungate added a team record in the 400 free (5:34.64).
Other event winners included Kelly Huffer and Jacob Jepsen.
Those who swam 100 percent personal records were Taliah Black, Jerrin Concepcion, Kelly Huffer, Maya Krantz, Morris, Michelle Robinson and five Vogts – Andrew, Ashley, Brannigan, Kelsey and Nichole.
One-hundred relay PRs were earned by Concepcion, Sydney Dickinson, Samantha Hines, Kelly Huffer, Joey Jepsen, Angela Johnson, Michael Johnson, Krantz, Robinson, Ethan Tack, Lucas Tack, Brett Vagt, Cole Weinstein and the five Vogts.
Dickinson, Hines, Angela Johnson, MaKenzie Judd, Autumn Robinson, Brannigan Vogt and Kelsey Vogt recorded Silver times. Gold times were met by Bon Jarik Bainco, Irysh Concepcion, Jerrin Concepcion, Kelly Huffer,
Brett Vagt, Joey Jepsen, Michael Johnson, Krantz, Robinson, Nichole Vogt and Weinstein.
Black and Lucas Tack established Pacific Northwest Swim cuts.
Aquajet Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Kelsey Vogt for improved strokes, PRs in 8-of-8 individual events and 3-of-3 relays, an average improvement of 15 seconds per 100, a 15-second drop in the 100 free (1:23.58)
in a relay leg and four minutes off in the mile (25:46.08).
NWAC next competes July 15-17 at the KING Invitational in Federal Way, where it will field a team of 35.
The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.
Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke.
