Stop bullying in the schools

I am Oak Harbor resident. I have three kids in the local district. I am a furious parent right now. I have gone to North Whidbey Middle School and have complained about bullying. My child is quiet and gets good grades, but keeps getting picked on and nothing is done about it. I thought the district and the state in general has a no tolerance law on bullying.

I am tired of my child getting cussed at on the bus, punched and spit at. This is ridiculous. I have watched the Oprah show and seen how kids commit suicide from things like this. I don’t want my child to be another statistic. It is hard to see your child come home and cry every day from such a thing. I am very hurt that these kids might only get a slap on the wrist and return back to school to keep doing it again.

I just moved from Nebraska a little over a year ago. I lived there when the Omaha mall shooting happened from a kid that was being bullied. So I know first hand what happens. I really am sad to see this. My friend has an autistic child and he has been threatened to get beat up and bullied at Oak Harbor High School. So why does this continue? Why isn’t there anything being done?
