In 1965, at the ripe old age of 17, I checked aboard the Seaplane Tender, USS Salisbury Sound, whose homeport was Oak Harbor.

Unable to enjoy all that the Oak Harbor Tavern had to offer, sailors in those days, myself along with a couple of shipmates of mine, were relagated to being all we could be hanging out at the “Pastime Cafe,” where they would serve us pot after pot of very black coffee for 10 cents a cup and then we’d mosey next door at the billards place and shoot pool for hours on end at a buck and hour.

I heard the Pastime and the pool hall closed many years ago. That said, I was wondering if you would have any pictures of those places and that part of Pioneer Way in its hay day, that you could share with a bunch of us Sally Sailors.  Call 626-355-1951.
