Shorecrest, one of the state’s top soccer teams, defeated Oak Harbor High School 4-1 Tuesday, April 9, at Shoreline Stadium.

The Scots (4-0-2, 6-1-2) are ranked sixth regardless of classification in the regional National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, which includes several Northwest states.

Oak Harbor coach Brian Thompson said, “Not our best game. We played okay in the first half and fell apart in the second.”

He added, “Shorecrest was up 2-0 at the half and I thought we could come back. Andrew Mitchell was playing well in the middle, Isaiah Trower and Chase Muller played well in the defense, Caley Powers worked hard up front. With all of this happening in the middle of the field they went down our flanks and scored.”

Oak Harbor’s score came on an own goal.

The Wildcats (2-4, 3-5) entertain Mountlake Terrace (1-5, 2-6-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Thompson said, “I’m optimistic that we will have much better results.”
