Old Main may go, ghosts and all

College building plan impacts library, city

A new master plan for the Oak Harbor campus of Skagit Valley College could bring about some pretty big changes to the college, but also to the community in general.

Mick Donahue, vice president of the Whidbey Island campus of the community college, said the most significant proposal is to demolish two buildings, Sprague Hall and Old Main, and replace them with one larger building on the site, possibly as soon as 2011.

The college has also been talking informally with officials from Sno-Isle Regional Library and Oak Harbor about combining the city library with the college library, possibly in the big new building.
