An Oak Harbor woman is accused of trying to stab her boyfriend with two kitchen knives on March 10, according to court documents.
April R. Peterson, 35, appeared in Island County Superior Court March 11 and the judge found probable cause existed to believe she committed the crime of assault in the second degree.
The judge ruled that Peterson should be interviewed by a mental health professional for possible treatment.
Peterson’s bail was set at $10,000.
At about 11 p.m., Peterson called 911 to report that she had tried to stab her boyfriend, according to the police report on the incident.
The man told police that he and Peterson got into an argument and she walked into the kitchen and grabbed two knives from the knife block. She went back into the living room and approached him with both knives raised above her head, the police report states.
The man grabbed Peterson’s wrist to stop her from stabbing him. He yelled and her two children came into the room, the report states.
Peterson told the police that she was having mental health problems and needed help; she had been taking pain pills following a neck procedure, the officer wrote.
