NWAC records fall in July 2 meet

Huffer notched her records in the girls’ 100 individual medley (1:19.95) and the 50 breast (44.93); Tack, in the boys’ 100 IM (1:23.23) and 50 free (33.42).

Huffer was also a part of the record-setting girls 10-and-under 200 free (2:23.62) and medley (2:48.63) relays; she was joined by Olivia Tungate, Mary Catherine Middleton and Ameerah McCowin.

Also setting Aquajet relay records in the 100 free (1:25.91) and medley (1:42.69) was the 8-and-under boys’ contingent of Justin Erickson, Alexander Toney, Lucas Tack and Jerrin Concepcion.

NWAC’ers achieving 100 percent PR’s included Addy Carver, Tricia Desquitado, Sophia Dickinson, Maddie Gaber, Alyssa Hickinbotham, Emily Huffer, Kelly Huffer, Clayton Livermore, Ameerah McCowin, Medina McCowin, Ashleigh Merrill, Marissa Morris, Maira Sulin, Ethan Tack, Lucas Tack, Alexander Toney, Jules Toney, Lauren Vagt and Molly Vagt.

Aquajet Swimmer of the Meet was Dickinson, who swam to all best individual and relay times and dropped almost 10 seconds for every 50 meters swum, improving her 100 IM from 2:32 to 2:15 and her 50 free relay leg from 1:03 to 52 seconds.

NWAC next competes at the third annual Starlight Invitational Swim Meet in Wenatchee July 9-11, where it will field a team of 33 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college. Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
