The North Whidbey Aquatic Club squeaked out a win over teams from Snohomish and Marysville in the Painterman Invitational at Marysville-Pilchuck High School April 16 and 17.
The Aquajets earned 10.1 points per athlete to nip the Marysville Marlins (9.8) and Stingray Swim Club of Snohomish (9.3) in the event.
Emily Huffer paced the NWAC effort by receiving high-point honors in the girls 14-year-old division with wins in the 100 individual medley (1:04.66), 50 backstroke (29.21) and 100 free style (56.41).
Other Aquajets who finished among the top six in the high point races included Ashleigh Merrill, Lucas Tack, Olivia Tungate, Ethan Tack, Marissa Morris, Kelly Huffer, Joey Jepsen, Jerrin Concepcion, Jacob Thompson, Josh Jepsen, Jacob Jepsen, Lauren Vagt, Micah Thompson, Lawrence Zapanta, Molly Vagt, Cullen Wood and Michelle Robinson.
Racers posting 100 percent individual records were Angele Dennen, Samantha Hines, Allison Hoffmire, Merrill, Jillian Pape, Jacob Thompson, Micah Thompson and Bruce Vagt.
Clocking 100 percent PRs in relays were Angele Dennen, Caitlin Dennen, Pape, Jacob Thompson, Micah Thompson, Brett Vagt and Zapanta.
Pacific Northwest Swim cuts were earned by Angele Dennen, Clayton Livermore and Ashleigh Merrill; and PNS Gold cuts by Pape, Lucas Tack, Jacob Thompson and Wood.
Brett Vagt received NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honors for swimming four individual PRs and six relay PRs; and dropping two seconds in the 200 breaststroke relay (35.51), three seconds in the 4×100 medley relay (67.75) and four seconds in the 200 backstroke relay (30.69).
NWAC next competes at its own Triple Pentathlon, April 29 through May 1, at JohnVanderzicht Memorial Pool, where it will field a team of 80 athletes.
The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.
Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.
New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
