An Oak Harbor man is accused of having a stolen scooter and a travel trailer stashed at a home on Ault Field Road, according to court records.
Prosecutors charged Nathan L. Christy in Island County Superior Court May 3 with possession of a stolen vehicle and possessing stolen property in the second degree.
A judge set Christy’s bail at $5,000.
A police report states that an Oak Harbor man reported to police April 18 that someone had stolen his black Honda Ruckus scooter from in front of his apartment.
Then on April 29, an Oak Harbor woman reported that her Coleman Sequoia camping trailer was missing from where she had parked it.
It turned out that a deputy with the Island County Sheriff’s Office had stopped Christy towing the trailer on Heller Road before it had been reported stolen, according to an officer’s report on the investigation. He claimed a friend had given it to him.
On May 1, an Oak Harbor police officer received a tip that the trailer was located at a residence on Ault Field Road where Christy was allegedly living. Officers recovered both the scooter and the trailer.
The police report states that Christy has an extensive criminal history that includes trafficking in stolen property, residential burglary, assault and drug possession.
