If you’ve ever worn the uniform of the U.S. Armed Forces, you should come and meet Congressman Rick Larsen at the Coupeville Recreation Hall on Saturday, April 10, between noon and 2 p.m.

Rep. Larsen sits on the House Armed Services Committee and has spent his first term in office fighting to keep Whidbey Island Naval Air Station open, raise military pay and comps by 4.1 percent, and beef up the Impact Aid program to help school districts whose students are the children of military members who are deployed abroad.

He co-sponsored legislation to push the Secretary of Defense to outfit our reserve units in Iraq and Afghanistan with the same equipment as the regular troops. And he convinced his colleagues to spend $128 million for Imminent Danger Pay and Family Separation Allowances.

He help to persuade Congress to spend $115 million on Prowlers at NAS Whidbey Island.

On top of all this, Rep. Larsen has worked to improve our border safety, fought hard to help our disabled vets and their survivors, voted against the administration’s plans to take overtime pay frorm workers’ pockets and helped secure funds for the 2nd Congressional District for everything from medical clinics, transportation projects, crime fighting equipment …. all to improve the quality of life for those of us who live in the 2nd District.
