Cole Weinstein and Jillian Pape of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club represented Coupeville in the Pacific Northwest Swimming Championships at Federal Way’s Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center July 25-28.
Weinstein, 18, competed in eight events and Pape, 13, swam in two in the meet which featured the top 1,000 swimmers from Western Washington.
Weinstein nabbed three top-20 finishes, swimming to 14th in the 200 butterfly (2:14.59), 18th in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.82) and 20th in the 400 individual medley (4:25.78).
Pape’s best finish was 27th in the 100 butterfly (1:12.89). She added a 28th in the 200 fly (2:51.83).
Weinstein, a recent CHS graduate who will swim for Whitman next school year, swam in five other events: 23rd, 800 free, 9:14.61; 35th, 200 backstroke, 2:20.95; 39th, 400 free, 4:25.78; 39th, 100 breast, 1:14.08; 41st, 200 IM, 2:18.15.
