Child Abuse Prevention Foundation (CAPF) is looking for nominations for this year’s Honor Our Children Award.

Each year the award is given to a person living on Whidbey Island who has gone out of their way to make Whidbey Island the best place on earth for children and families. Nominations in the past have included residents of Clinton, Langley, Freeland, Coupeville and Oak Harbor. They have included a pastor, a social service worker, and a little league coach.

Last year’s winner, Janet Wodjenski, was honored for organizing and leading the Central Whidbey Youth Coalition. The Award comes with a $500 cash prize for the winner.

To receive nomination forms, call CAPF at (877) 331-7343 or e-mail child@whidbey.com. Nominations are due by Feb. 25. The award winner will receive a certificate and $500 cash. All nominees will receive a letter congratulating them for their nomination.

CAPF has been holding the Honor Our Children award contest for the last three years, as part of their annual Honor Our Children awareness campaign in April to commemorate national Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Awareness Month. For more information, go to www.wiCAPF.org.
