I would like to extend a thank you to community members and local businesses for their recent support of our Oak Harbor High School’s DECA chapter. Ten businesses or individuals donated funds to help send 33 high school students to Bellevue for their state competition last weekend.
As the DECA advisor I was humbled by the support and having strangers show up at the high school with cash in hand to donate. It was touching to see support from businesses and community members who didn’t even know the kids they were supporting.
On a side note, the students they supported were competing against 3,000 of the top marketing students in the state with nine Oak Harbor students earning recognition on stage.
On behalf of the students and Oak Harbor DECA we would like to thank: Robert Young of Tradewinds Insurance, Jeff Rossi of Island Signs and Galaxy Laser Tag, Marcia Van Dyke and the Whidbey News-Times, Sandi Mulkey, Mishelle Mason with Cookie Lee, Jeff Pleet at Edward Jones, Susan Frosolone and Bayshore Acupuncture, Bud and Mia Walgreen, and Dave and Arlene Johnson.
