Builder urged to hang in there

I started reading the Whidbey News-Times Wednesday edition on my way back from the mailbox. How could I resist? There, on the front page, was a picture of a man writhing in rhetorical pain. Wait, I recognize him, it’s Bill Massey: Purveyor of profit, mouthpiece and icon of the “uber rich” in Oak Harbor. Person to be despised because he wants to build something.

It was only fitting that he was being subjected to yet another truckload of pap from the infamous Sue Karahalios, savior of all things “politically correct” and roadblock to all progress unless blessed by her. It’s a shame that Steve and Marianne (of WEAN) were not there to round out the chorus.

Sue actually was quoted as saying that Bill’s repeated attempts to rectify inequities in the building code garnered a response from the city. What, how can that happen in Oak Harbor? The city actually responding to a citizen demanding equal and fair treatment? How dare they.

Hang in there Bill, you’re a better man than I, Gunga Din.
