Anacortes completed a run through the consolation bracket by defeating North Whidbey 11-0 in four innings in the championship game of the 9/10 District 11 tournament Sunday, July 12, at Windjammer Park.

In North Whidbey’s first game of the tournament, it rallied to defeat Anacortes 11-9 Tuesday. After that contest, Anacortes won five straight games, including defeating North Whidbey twice last weekend to earn a trip to the state tournament.

Anacortes scored five runs in the first inning Sunday and “never looked back,” according to North Whidbey coach Don Jenkins.

As the score indicates, there were not many highlights for North Whidbey, Jenkins said.

Although North Whidbey dropped the title game, Jenkins said he hopes “the boys had a fun all-star experience.”

Many thanks to the parents and to co-coaches Joe Figarelle and Sam McLaughlin, who put in a ton of time to make this a great and fun learning experience for the team,” Jenkins said.
