An incident first reported as a stabbing on North Whidbey early Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, may have been a case of self-defense.

Detective Ed Wallace with the Island County Sheriff’s Office reported that two men were upset that a Rolling Hills resident had assaulted an 18-year-old woman. The two men went to the resident’s home and the woman lured him out.

Wallace said the two men jumped the resident and beat him. One of the men stared choking him.

The resident pulled out a utility knife and cut one of the men on the arm and rib cage. The injuries were relatively minor, Wallace said, and required a couple of stitches.
