Play returns for encore performance

The Whidbey Playhouse is bringing back “Love, Loss What I Wore” for a one-night only revival.

Following its great success this past season, the Whidbey Playhouse is bringing back “Love, Loss & What I Wore” for a one-night only revival at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island in Freeland.

The “replay” is set for 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23 at the church, which is located at 20103 on Highway 525.

The play’s short readers-theater style stories depict the universal struggles of having nothing to wear and trying on clothes under the unflattering lights in a fitting room while dealing with mothers who disapprove, men who disappear and, thankfully, supportive sisters.

Originally written by Nora Ephron — “Sleepless in Seattle,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “Julie and Julia” — and Delia Ephron — “You’ve Got Mail” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” — and based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman, the play is directed and produced by Sue Riney and features six local actresses.

Seats are non-reservable, and guests are suggested to donate $25 at the door.
