How to become a book groupie

Do you belong to a book group? Want to know the “Best Picks” of 2010 and other “Notable Books” to read? Then sign up for this annual event which will be held this year on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m., at the Coupeville Library, 788 NW Alexander St.

Evening activities include a potluck, used book sale, raffle and guest speaker presentation.

The theme of the evening is “Notable Books” in honor of speaker, Terry Beck.

Since 1944, the goal of the Notable Books Council has been to make available to the nation’s readers a list of 25 very good, very readable, and at times very important fiction, nonfiction, and poetry books for the adult reader.

This is a free event, but people who want to attend must make a reservation via e-mail to WhidbeyBooks@aol.com or contact Pam Owen at 360-221-8601.

The event is sponsored by the five Whidbey Island Friends of Libraries (Clinton, Coupeville, Freeland, Langley and Oak Harbor). Visit www.WhidbeyBookGroups.com for more information.
