Roberts is a nationally recognized painter of Native American people. He received word last fall that he was nominated to be in the book.

Roberts submitted ten images, and after careful review, three were selected by a jury. They include “Big Dog Dancer,” a Pow Wow Fancy dancer; “Home of the Brave III,” of a Paiute warrior; and “Nuxalk Masked Dancer II,” a dramatic depiction of a Coast Salish ceremonial dancer.

Roberts is continuing his work on Northwest native people and expects to have a large number of paintings this year for art shows.

Roberts is based in a studio near Fort Casey in Coupeville and said his inspiration comes from his wife Norma, who is an ancestor of the Lakota Sioux.
