“FINE ART IN THE SEASON OF LIGHT” is on exhibition at the Rob Schouten Gallery through Jan. 2. Included in the gallery’s displays are jewelry, sculptures, paintings and fine art glass, as well as woodwork, en caustics, ceramics and fiber art. The gallery is located at Greenbank Farm.

“ON AND OFF THE WALL” is a new exhibit at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island. To celebrate seven years of rotating exhibits, featuring the works of many local artists (on the wall, then off the wall), the UUCWI Visual Arts Committee invites you to visit the current display of works from committee members past and present. LADONNA EVERETT is featured artist at Oak Harbor City Hall during November and December. Everett is a surrealist pastel artist. GARRY OAK GALLERY is exhibiting the island clay creations of Lyla Lillis. Lillis’ works make wonderful gifts for and decorations for the holidays. Lillis forms and fires Whidbey Island clays into vases and other pieces.

PENN COVE GALLERY welcomed artist Diane Tompkinson to its representation of local talent. Tompkinson specializes in mixed media art and printmaking. NAVY BAND NORTHWEST presents a free holiday concert for the Oak Harbor community at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4 in the Oak Harbor High School Student Union Building. The Navy Musicians perform in various musical units, including the Ceremonial and Parade Bands, Popular Music Group, Brass Band, Brass Quintet, woodwind chamber groups, and a Protocol Jazz Combo. Performing nearly 500 engagements each year and encompassing both military and civilian events, Navy Band Northwest is the premier United States Navy musical organization in the Northwest. Tickets are not required.

GARRY OAK GALLERY has switched to fall and winter hours and will be open 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven days a week. The gallery will be closed on specific holidays, which can be seen on the gallery Facebook page or website. Many of the gallery artists are expressing seasonal themes in their creative efforts, and new events are planned for the winter season. Janine Shelly has added a new, fused glass lamp, using brilliant colors inspired by fall colors, and Steve Nowiki’s latest pieces accent his leaping, metal fish and crab art, quite nicely.

AKEMI WALKER is the featured artist for November at Penn Cove Gallery. Walker is a jewelry designer whose special love is Art Clay Silver, a mixture of fine silver powder and organic material which comes as a form of clay. When fired, the organic material burns off and the silver fuses to become fine silver sculptured pieces. She uses freshwater pearls, semiprecious stones and Baltic amber with sterling silver to finish. She will attend the gallery 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. www.penncovegallery.com
