Given the awful event in Marysville, I thought it might be interesting to see how Initiative 1351 treats school security and safety.
It is unfortunate that those wanting to address the “gun show loophole” didn’t stay to the task and give us an initiative that dealt with that issue. Instead, we got 18 pages of new regulation aiming to make criminals out of law-abiding citizens and making it difficult to stay on the right side of the law.
After reading John C. Stone’s Oct. 4 letter to the editor of the Whidbey News-Times, I realized there are many who refuse to see the facts.

In his Oct. 18 letter to the Whidbey News-Times, Mac McDowell wrote, “The Navy has long said OLF Coupeville is essential to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station remaining open.”
I just received a flyer in the mail with Rory Graves supporting Initiative 594. I have to admit that it finally sent me over the edge.

There have been several letters regarding Initiative 594 already published, but none addressed my principal concerns.
I was sorry to see the letter to the editor Saturday from former hard-working County Commissioner Mac McDowell.
