Editor,
At the recent memorial held for the slain Charlie Kirk, his widow addressed the young man alleged to have murdered her husband saying, “I forgive you,” Moments later, the man chosen to be the president of, the spokesman for, this great nation stated, “I hate my opponents.” For added emphasis, or whatever his motive, he said it again: “I hate my opponents.”
This man was elected by approximately one half of our population. If he is a true leader, the President, then he posits that one half of us should hate the other half. How does that work for you? He seems supported in this view by his vice president and those chosen to be his closest advisors.
Until shortly after that memorial, statistics posted on the United States Department of Justice website stated that since 1990, 520 deaths have resulted from 227 right-wing events. Since 1990, 78 deaths occurred at events attributed to left-wing organizers. The president and those close around him insist it is the Left most responsible for this carnage. These 598 deaths are unacceptable in a civilized society. A president who seeks to pit one half of the population against the other half does not deserve to hold his position.
