As a past member of the Island County Law & Justice Council and critic of some past practices, let me add my voice to support a public commendation of former Island County Sheriff and current Deputy Lt. Mike Hawley for a job well done in the successful apprehension of the Cascade Mall shooting suspect Arcan Cetin.

More importantly, in light of current nationwide trends, by all reports it was done correctly, honorably, safely, and according to the finest traditions of public safety.
