Gun control won’t stop it

The cartoon in the Jan. 7 Whidbey News-Times was indifferent to the sense of reality. I cannot think of anyone who has not been moved by these senseless deaths, especially of those who serve to protect us. That includes NRA members and responsible gun owners. The sad fact is that gun control will not stop tragic events like this from happening again. The “bad guys” will always find a way to get a weapon and not always by legal means.

Those of us who abide by the law and are responsible gun owners shudder whenever there is a shooting knowing that the cry for gun control can’t be far behind. We do not want these irresponsible people to have guns any more than anyone else. We do not want to see the anguish and pain on the faces of those left behind by these terrible acts.

We do want to see the laws already on the books strongly enforced. We do want to see these criminals stopped no matter what the weapon. The NRA is not the villain here.
