Louise Nannette Vick, 57, passed away on June 3, 2009, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a long illness.
She was born in San Diego, Calif., May 9, 1952 and graduated from Madison High School. She worked for ESD at the mail desk. After attending accounting school, she went to work for Fedco discount store in the accounting department.
She met and married Michael D. Vick May 6, 1988, while he was stationed in the Navy in San Diego. Mike and Louise lived overseas and stateside during his military career. They helped raise his two children Wayne and Toni. Louise enjoyed making friends and working while taking college courses during Mike’s military service.
When Mike received orders to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Louise took the position of accountant for MWR. She was a huge asset in the department and made many friends while she was employed there. She left her position at MWR to care for Mike while he was in the last stages of Huntington’s disease. After Mike’s passing, Louise took a tax preparation class at H&R Block, where she was later employed. She was a valuable employee as not only a tax preparer but also as their office manager until her passing.
In her spare time, she would house-sit and pet-sit for special friends. She also did housekeeping for her friend Margo. She loved to read and it was her passion. She enjoyed cooking, puzzle books, crocheting and knitting along with coin collecting and cats. Louise was always thoughtful and helpful to all that knew her. She will be greatly missed by her close neighbors on Columbia Drive.
She was preceded in death by her step-son, Wayne; her twin sister, Celest; husband, Michael D. Vick; and her father, Calvin Mike Skubski.
Louise leaves behind her mother Bernice; brothers, Michael and Lance; step-daughter, Toni; three granddaughters; Mike’s Aunt Ellen; and various relatives in the south.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at the Seaplane Base Marina. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Louise’s name to any local pet shelter or charity.
