Melvin Warner Case

Melvin Warner Case, 97, of Quincy, passed away on Nov. 10, 2006 at the Quincy Valley Convalescent Center.

He was born on July 7, 1909 to Arthur and Stella (Crist) Case at Riverton, Wash. Melvin attended and graduated from high school on Bainbridge Island in 1927. He was attending Washington State College in 1929 when the stock market crashed. He moved to Chicago where he met and married Dorothy Sewitt. They had two children, a son Ronald and a daughter Marjorie.

During World War II Melvin worked for the U.S. Army in Skagway, Alaska. He moved to Seattle in 1943 and in 1944 married Mary Snodgrass, who preceded him in death in 2002.

Melvin lived in the Tri Cities and Whidbey Island where he operated Classic Construction Company. He also served as mayor of Coupeville during the 70’s. He moved to George, Wash. in the late 70’s, then moved to Sunland Estates in 1987 where he lived until 2001 when he moved to the Cambridge in Quincy. He had been of a resident of the Quincy Valley Convalescent Center for the past six months.

Melvin is survived by stepson Gordon Reeve of Lake Havasu, Ariz., daughter-in-law Joanne Case of Quincy, 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.

He was also preceded in death by his son Ron, daughter Marjorie, brother Ray and sister Guinevere.

At the family’s request services will be held at a later date.
