On the road for the opening game of the 2008 football season Coupeville High School racked up 245 yards in offense, but managed to put only 14 points on the board dropping a 37-14 decision to Port Townsend.

The Wolves scored six points in the first quarter to trail 8-6, but were held scoreless in the second period as Port Townsend answered with 15 points in the second period to hold a 23-6 halftime advantage.

Port Townsend added 14 points in the third quarter to cruise into the final 12 minutes of play with a commanding 37-6 lead.

Coupeville rushed for 141 yards in the game led by junior quarterback Jason Bagby who netted 60 yards on eight carries. Justin Adams carried the ball 15 times for 48 yards and Chase Griffin had 33 yards on five carries.

Bagby was 11-for-22 in passing, good for 104 yards, but threw three interceptions in the game.

Curtis Habeck had five catches for the Wolf Pack covering 51 yards and Ian Smith hauled in three balls for 45 yards.

Coupeville returns to action Friday, Sept. 12, hosting Lakeside at Mickey Clark Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
