Before daylight on the Sunday before Thanksgiving I parked my car at the 7/11 and left on the Whidbey Seatac shuttle for the airport. Unfortunately, I failed to notice that the rear window of my car was wide open and I was gone for a week. Although someone from the shuttle service tried to call me on my cell phone, I was in Mexico and was unable to receive any calls.
There were several good Samaritans involved in helping me. Someone noticed the open window and reported it to an employee of the 7/11 who very kindly called the Oak Harbor police. I have made many phone calls but I have been unsuccessful in finding out who actually taped up the window and protected my car from much of the snow and rain that fell that week.
To the good Samaritans involved: My heartfelt thanks. I am proud to live in a community which looks after its neighbors, even when they are careless enough to leave town with car windows open.
