Why you shouldn’t choose an abortion

I am a freshman who is currently enrolled at Oak Harbor High School. The topic that captures my attention the most is a woman’s choice to have an abortion if she is unsure about the pregnancy. As a person who is against such a subject, my goal is not to completely illegalize it, but to lessen the chances of it occurring.

When it comes to having an abortion, the first thing that women should consider is their health. There are numerous possible side-effects from choosing that kind of decision: infection, bladder injury, bowel injury, higher rates of breast cancer, effects on future pregnancies and severe bleeding (abortionfacts.com). According to abortionfacts.com, even when a surgeon is highly skilled and experienced in the process there is a risk of death, resulting from the loss of too much blood.

I believe that women who get an abortion will most likely regret it. I think it would be best to keep a good conscience in order to avoid emotional problems. Several women have endured both emotional and physical pain from their abortion and more than often, they will regret their decision.

Undoubtedly, several people might say that abortion isn’t really killing anyone, but I disagree with that statement. As a matter of fact, on the third week of a baby’s life in the womb, the heart start to beat and they eyes and ears begin to develop a few weeks later. In addition, the fourth to fifth week are when most of the baby’s body parts begin forming and blood starts flowing in the veins (abortionfacts.com). Obviously, deciding to abort the baby is mostly the mother’s decision, but they also need to consider other methods that could prove to be less harmful for themselves, as well as the child.

To sum up, women should always think about the other choices they have besides abortion. There is always a possibility that the child will grow up to do something useful or important for the world.

I really think that abortion is a big issue in our country that should be stopped or at least be decreased. Let us keep many women of the world healthy and content with their life.
