Soccer meeting March 17

Central Whidbey Soccer Club is having their annual general meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Windemere, 5 South Main St., in Coupeville.

The club invites the general public to attend the meeting, share ideas, and/or join the volunteers of CWSC.

Right now, the club needs volunteers ranging from an equipment manager, coaches, members at large and board members.

Babe Ruth tryouts begin March 7

Oak Harbor Babe Ruth Baseball will conduct tryouts for 12, 13 and 14-year-old players from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, at the Oak Harbor High School baseball field.

No preregistration is required.

The Skagit Valley Babe Ruth League is a competitive, traveling youth baseball program for Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties.

Running club seeks members

The North Whidbey Park and Recreation District sponsored Whidbey Island Running Club is recruiting for the spring/summer track program.

All boys and girls in kindergarden through sixth grades are welcome to come to tryouts at Windjammer Park at 3:30 on Mondays and 3:45 on Fridays during February. The first two practices are free.

Come join Whidbey Island’s only running program for kids.

Safe boating class begins in March

The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron hosts a six-session boating course from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday beginning March 2.

Classes will be held in Hayes Hall, room 112, at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.

Cost is $25 per student and includes books. Spouses or family members who use the same set of books are charged $13.

Take the bus to the mountains

There is new snow and plenty of room for one-time riders if anyone would like to get up to the mountains for a day of skiing or boarding.

The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District has Coupeville, and South Whidbey Everett pickups. The annual trip to Mount Baker is Feb. 10, so don’t miss your opportunity.
