Letter: Langley Post Office workers deserves praise

Editor,

In Sally Baker’s letter to the editor (July 2), she laments the slow delivery at the Langley Post Office and her irritation at not getting her packages on time. I would suggest to Sally that she show up in the morning behind the post office to see the mountains of packages that the hard working postal workers are struggling to fit into their delivery cars.

We Langleyites are a privileged bunch of people who can shop with relative ease on our computers without a thought for how our abundant life style might affect others. Nationally, the post office has been crippled by Republicans intent on privatizing this long honored public service, as well as widespread shortages of workers in many areas of our lives due to the pandemic. The Langley staff are doing their best to provide good service under these difficult conditions. I’m sure they will be grateful for a kind word of support, a cup of coffee or a can of energy drink rather than words of complaint.
