Arguing won’t solve problem

The argument over development of Coupeville’s shoreline along Front Street brings two competing groups head to head in what’s fast becoming an annual confrontational affair in Coupeville. Business development in Coupeville is considered by many as “fightin’ words,” add shoreline to those words and you can have fireworks out of season.

How will this argument play out?

CAVE (Citizens Against Virtually Everything) opposes a complacently dysfunctional business community, whose arguments on shoreline development will be decided by what appears to be a “deer-in-the-headlights” Town Council mentality.

With any argument the overriding question becomes will a resolution be thought out or shouted out? Most importantly, we must let wisdom surface to mitigate the argument to a discussion so that a compromise can be found to satisfy most of the folks involved. If the community can discuss the shoreline development issue rather than argue the issue then hopefully there will not be any more cookie throwing events to add to Town Marshal Marlborough’s resume for sheriff.

With the lighting of any fireworks you should always have water and adult supervision present.
