PEOPLE & PLACES: Family celebrates 90 years

The family of Vernon Eerkes would like to invite his friends to an open house at Sunday, Nov. 16, at Christian Reformed Church, 1411 Wieldraayer Road off Swantown Road. Mr. Eerkes will be celebrating his 90th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Whidbey Playhouse needs a 30-ish male singer/actorfor the part of Jesus in its production of the Broadway musical, “Godspell.” Auditioners are to have a prepared vocal solo.
The rehearsals for Godspell will run through parts of November, December and January and open Jan. 23, 2004.

Book Owls Book Club on South Whidbey would like to host an all Whidbey book clubs potluck in early December. The purpose of the get-together would be to share each club’s top three book recommendations from last year’s readings and to sell donated books to raise funds for a charity to be selected by the host club.

Judi Sladky of Clinton has been hired as a part-time membership development manager to deliver the Girl Scout program and support Girl Scout volunteers throughout Island County.
