Court-martial sends man to prison

A chief petty officer (E-7) stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison last week.

John Kellow, Jr., pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent acts with a child and one count of indecent exposure during a court-martial proceeding in Bremerton, according to base Public Affairs Officer Kim Martin. He was charged under Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

In addition to receiving 11 years of confinement, Kellow was dishonorably discharged from the Navy and reduced in rate from a chief petty officer (E-7) to a seaman recruit ( E-1). Kellow worked at the base in Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD).

Kellow sexually abused several children in the Oak Harbor area.
