Solid Waste Advisory Committee seeks applicants

The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill a position on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, which represents agriculture interests.

The commissioners appoint members to the advisory committee with no term expiration date. The committee consists of a minimum of nine members and represents a balance of interests including, but not limited to, citizens, public interest groups, business, the waste management industry, agriculture and local elected public officials.

The duties of the advisory committee include review of solid waste programs, processes and documents.

The committee advises on solid waste policy and requires active, consistent participation in committee meetings, which are quarterly, or as needed.

Knowledge of materials forwarded prior to any meeting and development of familiarity with the solid waste program in general is required. Once working knowledge is developed, time commitments would include quarterly or as-needed meetings, which last one to three hours, and attendance at infrequent meetings or hearings where a committee representative is required.

Interested individuals should provide a letter of interest and statement of qualifications by mail, email or fax to Island County Board of Commissioners, Attn: Pam Dill, Re: Solid Waste Advisory Committee Vacancy, P.O.
