Wrestlers win at Lynnwood, Arlington
Members of the Whidbey Wildcat Wrestling Club were busy this weekend, participating in the Third Annual Predators Winter Folkstyle Championships on Saturday in Lynnwood, and at the Western Washington Kids Wrestling League Novice Championships on Saturday in Arlington.
At Lynnwood, eight members of the club participated and three brought home medals.
In the 119 to 123-pound cadet division, Cody Fakkema won the gold medal with a first-place finish.
At the WWKWL tournament in Arlington, Kyler Lamb was a gold medal winner in the 103-pound intermediate weight class.
Devin Jensen captured the gold medal in the 136-pound schoolboy/girl weight class, and Jeremy Alonzo won the gold in the 175-pound schoolboy/girl division.
Rounding out the Whidbey Wildcats’ gold medal winners was Austin Jensen in the 135-pound cadet division.
The Western Washington Kids Wrestling League has two to four tournaments a year that are primarily designed for first or second-year wrestlers.
The next match for the Wildcats is at the Washington State Folkstyle Tournament this Saturday and Sunday in Chehalis.
