Wolves face Port Townsend in battle for 2nd | Soccer

The Coupeville High School soccer team, coming off a 5-1 home loss to Klahowya Tuesday, April 26, heads to Port Townsend for a 4 p.m. match that could determine second place in the Olympic League.

The Wolves (1-2, 4-6-1) will move into a tie for second with the Redhawks (2-1, 5-5-1) with a win. Port Townsend beat Coupeville 2-1 April 14.

The second-place team will open the playoffs with a home match while the third-place team will hit the road.

After going to PT, Coupeville closes out the regular season with two league matches: at home with Chimacum (0-3, 1-9) at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and at Klahowya at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3.

Klahowya (3-0, 11-1-1) remained in first with its win over the Wolves.

“Klahowya is a really good team,” coach Kyle Nelson said. “The guys really tried hard, but they were too much for us.”

Abraham Leyva Elenes tallied Coupeville’s goal, continuing his steak of scoring in every match this season. William Nelson registered an assist.
