Wildcats, Wolves compete in jamboree | Track

Oak Harbor and Coupeville tuned up for the high school track season by competing in the four-team Island Jamboree at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, March 19.

Oak Harbor and Coupeville tuned up for the high school track season by competing in the four-team Island Jamboree at Wildcat Memorial Stadium Thursday, March 19.

Not all of the events of a regular season meet were held, and no team scores were kept. South Whidbey and Lakewood also took part.

Oak Harbor girls picked up wins from Kaitlyn Chelberg (100-meter hurdles, 17.44), Claire Anderson (high jump, 4-08; triple jump, 32-02), Jenna Cooley (long jump, 15-07) and Taylor Deconzo (javelin, 104-01).

Winning Wildcat boys were Dejon Devroe (400, 50.14), John Rodeheffer (800, 2:04.07; 1,600, 4:24.48), Chris Humphries (triple jump, 35-11) and Tyler Adamson (shot put, 45-03).

Oak Harbor did not field teams in the relays.

Coupeville collected wins from Makana Stone (girls 400, 1.01.9) and Latham Kelley (boys 200, 23.83). The girls 4×100 relay team (53.13) of Sylvia Hurlburt, Marisa Etzell, Kirsten Pelroy and Lauren Grove also won but it was the only team competing.

Oak Harbor will meet Glacier Peak and Edmonds-Woodway in Snohomish at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26.

Coupeville goes to Port Angeles for a 13-team invitational meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21.
