Oak Harbor out-fought host Meadowdale 2-1 Monday, April 29, in a rugged Wesco 3A soccer match.

Wildcat coach Brian Thompson said, “We played very well last night despite the rough and tumble style of Meadowdale.”

The recipient of much of the damage was Oak Harbor’s Chase Muller, who was hit in the face twice, forcing him to leave the field with a bloody nose. The second shot may have broken his nose, Thompson said.

Muller and teammates prevailed, however, as the Wildcats received goals from Caley Powers and Gavin Stewart.

Powers’ goal, which as assisted by Matt Jensen, came on a shot that hit the cross bar and angled in.

Stewart’s unassisted goal came on a “perfect shot,” according to Thompson.

Oak Harbor (5-6-1, 6-8-1) wraps up the regular season with a 7:30 p.m. home match with Marysville-Pilchuck (4-7-1, 5-8-2) Wednesday, May 1, and then it is off to the playoffs.

District begins Saturday; Oak Harbor’s opponent and the site of the match have not been determined.
