The team score was close and three matches went three sets as the Oak Harbor tennis team opened the 2015 season with a 4-3 win at Mount Vernon Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Wildcats pulled out the victory by claiming all four singles matches, coming from behind to win two.

In second and third singles, Wildcats Raymond Paraiso and Rodrigo Columbo both dropped their first set 6-3 and then recovered to win the final two.

Paraiso prevailed 6-4, 6-3; and Columbo closed out with 6-4, 6-1 wins.

Only two of the seven matches were one-sided, and Oak Harbor won both.

Jackson Wezeman cruised 6-0, 6-0 in first singles, while Calib Byers took fourth singles 6-0, 6-1.

Oak Harbor lost all three doubles matches: 1, Jared Hunt/Matthew Hallahan lost 6-4, 6-2; 2, Sid Thomas/Matt Molitor lost 6-3, 6-2; and 3, Aziya Sanders/Jose Cabigting lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

The Wildcats (1-0) hosts Glacier Peak (3-0) at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14.
