Wildcats finish 2nd to Edmonds-Woodway | Track

Edmonds-Woodway topped the Oak Harbor High School track teams in a three-team meet at Mount Vernon Thursday, April 14.

Edmonds-Woodway topped the Oak Harbor High School track teams in a three-team meet at Mount Vernon Thursday, April 14.

The Warriors won the boys meet with 107 points. Oak Harbor had 94.5 and the host Bulldogs 56.5. In the girls meet, Edmonds-Woodway tallied 116, followed by the Wildcats (104) and Mount Vernon (43).

The Oak Harbor boys won only three events, two by Austin White. White posted personal bests while winning the shot put (45-05) and discus (128-05).

Garren Guerrero collected the other Oak Harbor win by taking the 300 hurdles (45.86). He was also second in the 110 hurdles (16.4) and long jump (19-07.5).

Other seconds were earned by Josiah Welch (400, 55.45), Ben Gasper (3,200, 10:45.3), Joseph Noland (shot, 44-02; discus, 124-06), Jordan Washington (high jump, 5-10), Ozell Jackson (triple jump, 37-05.5) and the 4×400 relay team of Josh Cote, Jackson, Michael Lym and Welch (3:44.4).

Kaitlyn Chelberg won two events (100 hurdles, 16.53; 300 hurdles, 50.78) to lead the girls. Other wins came from Deja Bunch (400, 1:06) and Priya Osborne (long jump, 15-06.5).

The Wildcat girls took 11 seconds, getting two each from Alex Smith (1,600, 5:46.67; 3,200, 13:06.56) and Samantha Hines (100 hurdles, 17.77; javelin, 94-02). Others were Janae Payne (100, 13.35), Kaytie DeMaio (300 hurdles, 53.16), Jenna Cooley (long jump, 15-00.25) and Callie Nuttall (triple jump, 28-05).

All three relay finished second: 4×100 (Cooley, Osborne, Payne, Amaya Rittierodt), 54.12; 4×200 (Alana Austin, Cooley, Payne, Rittierodt), 1:53.11; and 4×400 (Austin, Bunch, Megdaline Fink, Hines), 4:42.26.

Oak Harbor and Marysville Getchell go to Arlington at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21.
