First the Oak Harbor High School baseball team came from behind, then Marysville-Pilchuck responded to defeat the visiting Wildcats 7-5 Thursday, April 14.

Oak Harbor (2-4, 4-6) will aim to claim at least one win in the three-game series when the two teams return to M-P (5-1, 8-3) at 4 p.m. Friday, April 15, for the finale.

Two hits, an error, a hit batter and two walks led to two Marysville-Pilchuck runs in the first inning.

Oak Harbor got one back in the third when M-P committed an error after a Trent Benson walk and Kevyn Johnson single.

The Tomahawks used an error, walk and hit to tally a run in the bottom of the third, then Oak Harbor took a 4-3 lead with three runs in the fourth.

The Wildcats blended a hit by Chad Spradlin with two walks and an error to plate the three runs.

M-P came right back with a run in the bottom of the fourth on four singles to tie the game at 4, then added three runs in the fifth on two hits, two walks and an error.

Oak Harbor scored once in the seventh. Johnson walked, Tyler Snavely was hit by a pitch and Preston Rankin walked to load the bases. Johnson scored on Steven Richards’ ground out.

Johnson, Rankin, Richards, Spradlin and Dylan Bailey singled for Oak Harbor’s only hits.

M-P rapped 11 hits and left 16 men on base.
