The second divisional high school Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps competition of the season ended like the first – Oak Harbor High School dominated the awards ceremony.

The Wildcat Battalion collected firsts in all five team competitions and won four of the eight individual categories at Snohomish High School Saturday, Jan. 25.

Color guard No. 2, unarmed drill team, armed drill team No. 1, gold rifle team and physical strength team No. 2 all collected first-place medals.

The blue rifle team and physical strength team No. 1 placed second, the armed drill team No. 2 third and the color guard team No. 1 sixth against nine other schools.

Earning firsts in individual events were Tricia Desquitado, unarmed commander; Amanda Simpson, armed No. 1 commander; Jonathan Cabigting, strength team ironman; and Troy McCool, air rifle (out of 59 shooters).

Desquitado added a second place in strength team ironwoman.

Oak Harbor swept the top five spots in ironman, with Robert Hartley, Jermin Abides, Jose Cabigting and Earl Solomon following Jonathan Cabigting.

The Wildcats also had a strong showing in air rifle. After McCool, Nathan Wagner finished third, Colton Baumgardner fifth and Thomas Davila sixth.

Nathen Larsen, Mark Welch and Destiny Garcia went 3-4-5 in armed drill down out of 33 cadets.
Zach Johnson placed sixth in unarmed drill down.

In dual armed exhibition, Sean Crosby and Cooper Stone nabbed second.

The next meet for the Oak Harbor NJROTC unit is Saturday, Feb. 22, at Federal Way.

The meets include 10 schools who represent Navy, Army, Air Force and Marine Corps JROTC programs.
